Prometheus 2 Begins Filming Early 2016

It looks as though Ridley Scott’s upcoming ‘Prometheus’ sequel will be heading to screens sooner than we thought… as the film begins shooting in January.

During an interview with Total Film, he apparently revealed that ‘Prometheus 2’ will start filming in January 2016… and explains that his love of sci-fi has been rekindled.

“I’ve got back into the sci-fi thing,” he said. “I kind of adore it.”

Of course, this may come as a bit of a surprise… after all, with Neill Blomkamp pushing ahead with his upcoming ‘Alien’ sequel, there had been hints that the studio – 20th Century Fox – wasn’t quite so keen on Ridley’s ‘Prometheus’ sequel.

But now it looks as though both projects are on the cards.

Does this mean ‘Promethus 2’ will be heading to screens sooner rather than later? If you ask me, a 2016 film shoot would suggest a release sometime the following year… but that’s just a bit of a guess. And with Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ movie still in pre-production, it could mean we see another ‘Prometheus’ film before any continuation of the ‘Alien’ franchise.

Could ‘Prometheus 2’ prove to further tie the two franchises together?

We’ve already seen plenty in the first film that would act as a predecessor to the first ‘Alien’… but I can’t help wondering if ‘Prometheus 2’ will help to bridge the gap even further. Although quite what that means remains to be seen.

Either way, it looks as though ‘Prometheus’ fans have something to celebrate. And for the doubters… well, at least ‘Alien5’ is on its way, too.

‘Prometheus 2’ begins filming in January 2016.
