‘Powers’ Gets Second Season On PlayStation Network

Playstation Network’s first original scripted series Powers is getting a second go-round. Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that the Sony Pictures TV-produced series has been renewed for a second season for debut in 2016.

“The reception to Powers has been incredible and we are thrilled to have successfully launched a platform for original content with the PlayStation gamer in mind,” said John Koller, Vice President of Platforms Marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. “We believe original content will continue to be a key pillar as we broaden the value proposition for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited for what’s to come with season two of Powers.”

Inspired by the graphic novels of the same name, Powers follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Season two will continue to follow the detectives and the Powers Division team as they go up against commercialized, superhumans who impose their power on the public, which both worships and fears them.

Powers is produced by Jinxworld and Circle of Confusion in association with Sony Pictures Television. Charlie Huston, Remi Aubuchon, Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Avon Oeming, David Engel, Lawrence Mattis, David Alpert and Frank Frattaroli serve as executive producers.
