PBS Brings Back “Curious George” and “Super Why!” For Kiddies – TCA

Curious George returns to PBS Kids August 17 in his third feature-length adventure Curious George 3: Back To The Jungle, featuring the voices of John Goodman and Angela Bassett and music by the Plain White Ts, the network announced at TCA Saturday.

Also announced were new episodes of the Emmy-nominated pre-school series Super Why!, also bowing August 17.

The third George movie, already available on Netflix, is set in Africa, where the cartoon chimp crash-lands after a space trip. PBS will follow up its airing with an immediate re-airing of Curious George 2, starring Tim Curry and Jerry Lewis, among others. Leslie Rotenberg, general manager of Children’s Media for PBS, said PBS KidsCurious George series is the network’s “number-one show for kids 2-8.”

Super Why! returns August 17 with five new episodes, with more episodes arriving later in the year. The first batch carry a mystery. “Viewers will join the Super Readers as they solve puzzles and explore their origin stories, and gain the power to read along the way,” say Linda Simensky, VP of Children’s Programming for PBS.
