Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man Officially Part Of ‘Captain America: Civil War’

It had been a rumor in all the normal places but Marvel has made it official: Paul Rudd is a part of the cast of Captain America: Civil War, which is starting principal photography today in Atlanta. Rudd of course plays Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Marvel’s Ant-Man, which comes out July 17. That will set him up for Civil War, which has a May 6, 2016 release date.

The third installment of the Captain America franchise will also shoot in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland. Revenge’s Emily VanCamp and Martin Freeman are among the most recent cast additions to join the usual Marvel Universe players like star Chris Evans, who’s Steve Rogers/Cap does battle with Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man.

The story picks up where this week’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron left off: Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Joe and Anthony Russo are back to direct Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely’s script.
