Open Road Ramps Up TV Biz With ABC Family Exec Hire

Open Road Films has named former ABC Family executive Lynn Stepanian its EVP of Television as the primarily film company begins to dip its toe in the TV waters. The announcement was made today by CEO Tom Ortenberg, to whom Stepanian will report. In the new role, she will focus on acquisitions and managing output deals, but she also will be mining programming opportunities and TV series based on Open Road’s film library.

“As our business continues to expand globally and across multiple platforms, Lynn’s depth of expertise in the broadcast world across media platforms will be a tremendous asset to Open Road Films,” Ortenberg said in the announcement of her hire. “And we are thrilled to have her join the senior management team at the company.”

Most recently at ABC Family, Sepanian was SVP Acquisitions & Scheduling, where she oversaw the network’s off-network and feature acquisitions and linear, multi-platform and on-air media strategies. Before that she was TV Guide Network’s VP Strategy, Acquisitions & Scheduling, and before that was a senior exec for The CW Plus station group.
