NASA Astronaut Goes From 'Big Bang Theory' to 'Big Brain Theory' [Exclusive Video]

Not everyone has the IQ to compete on Discovery's new reality show "The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius," but that shouldn't stop anyone from watching the awesomeness unfold as 10 brilliant engineers (and aspiring engineers) compete for $50,000 and a one-year contract at WET, an industry leader in water-based engineering.

In this exclusive sneak peek at the series premiere, guest judge Mike Massimino, a NASA astronaut -- the first man to tweet from space and a three-time guest star on "The Big Bang Theory" -- joins host Kal Penn ("House") to present the contestants with their first challenge, which involves two trucks that contain explosives, facing each other.

Massimino's primary focus: to see how these geniuses work together. "My main criteria today is did they work well together as a team. There's a lot of smart people, but you've got to come together as a team if you're going to fly a spaceship or build a car or do one of these challenges."

To find out which contestants have the logic and design to continue in "The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius," tune in to the premiere episode on Wednesday, 5/1 at 10 PM on Discovery.
