‘The Mysteries of Laura’ Gets Order For 5 More Scripts From NBC

Following steady ratings performance for The Mysteries of Laura in the first weeks of the season, NBC has given the light crime procedural an order for five additional scripts.

The Mysteries of Laura, the only NBC freshman series to get a second-season pickup, received a 13-episode renewal in May after airing 20 episodes in its first season. The series starring Debra Messing opened its second season with a 1.2 Live+Same Day rating among adults 18-49, an OK number for a 8 PM show with no lead-in. It has held steady, logging a 1.2 in Week 2 and 1.1 in Week 3. The procedural, from Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti Prods. and Kapital Entertainment, also does OK in time-shifted viewing, with the second-season opener getting a +42% lift in Live+7 to a 1.7 18-49 rating.

NBC recently gave breakout new drama Blindspot, also from WBTV, an order for 9 backup scripts which was then followed by a full-season episodic order.
