MTV VMAs Moving to Brooklyn
The MTV Video Music Awards are moving to Brooklyn.
For the 30th anniversary of the awards show, the VMAs will be broadcast from Brooklyn this year, uprooting the ceremony from Los Angeles. (Also, that's right: The MTV Video Music Awards are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, which should make you feel really, really old.)

This year's ceremony will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and will air live on Sunday, Aug. 25.
"From a vibrant musical scene for up and coming artists to epic concerts by today's biggest stars and the triumphant return of pro sports to the borough after nearly 60 years, Brooklyn has re-emerged as a cultural capitol where music, sports and entertainment history is made every day," MTV president Stephen Friedman said of the move. "We can't wait to help write the next chapter on August 25th, when one of the biggest nights in music happens in Brooklyn… for the very first time." New York mayor Michael Bloomberg touted the financial benefits of bringing the VMAs to Brooklyn. "Brooklyn is home to icons like the Cyclone in Coney Island and the Brooklyn Bridge, and now it can lay claim to the MTV 'Video Music Awards, Bloomberg said. "Bringing the VMAs to Brooklyn will mean hundreds of jobs as crews work on the production and provide a boost to our local economy as attendees stay in hotels, visit local eateries and experience all Brooklyn and our City have to offer."
In celebration -- and promotion -- of the move, MTV launched a campaign Monday morning on its Twitter and its Instagram accounts, featuring the VMAs' iconic Moonman trophy making his way from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where last year's ceremony took place, to Barclays Center.

Which doesn't seem like that momentous of a journey, since you know, he's been to the moon and everything...
Anyway, if you notice the VMAs suddenly strutting around and beginning every other sentence with "Yo," you'll know why.
