Mona Scott-Young Appoints Dorothy Toran as Monami Entertainment VP

Television producer Dorothy Toran has been tapped as the new VP for Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment, Variety has learned exclusively.

In the newly created position, Toran will report to Scott-Young and oversee production for upcoming television projects. Monami Entertainment is behind VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” franchise, which includes “New York,” “Atlanta” and “Hollywood” chapters. The company also produces the network’s “Chrissy & Mr. Jones” and “K. Michelle: My Life.”

“As we continue our focus on creating great unscripted fare, expanding our slate to include other formats and venture into physical production, Dorothy brings a wealth of experience and understands how to work strategically to maximize efficiency that will help take Monami Entertainment to the next level,” said Scott-Young, Monami Entertainment CEO.

With hundreds of hours of programming under her belt, Toran is regarded as a veteran television producer who has worked on series, music specials, music videos, commercials and digital programming. Her producing credits include projects with Bravo, Discovery, TV One, Essence Communications and Sirens Media. Toran previously served as executive in charge of production at True Entertainment.
