‘Mission: Impossible’ Accepted At FX – Along With ‘Trainwreck’, ‘Pixels’ & Others
FX Networks continues to gobble up TV rights to hit movies. This time the slew of pickups includes Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, which dominated the domestic and overseas box office over the weekend. The Tom Cruise-led sequel is headed to the company’s suite of networks – FX, FXX and FXM and FXNow for VOD, along with the Judd Apatow-Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck, Adam Sandler’s Pixels, the John Green adaptation Paper Towns and recent No. 1 opener Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy.
The pickups add to FX’s 2015 haul of fame, which has included TV rights to such mega-hits as Minions, Jurassic World, Furious 7 and Pitch Perfect 2. Other features headed to small screens via FX include Terminator: Genisys, Ted 2, Taken 3, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Home. In 2014, it licensed two-thirds of all of the year’s features that grossed more than $100 million at the domestic box office.
