Michael Bay Releases First ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2′ Pics

For those of you living under a rock – or in the sewers, one supposes – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the upcoming sequel to last years’ hit reboot of the enduring comic-based franchise, is set to begin filming in locations around New York very soon. To prove it, producer Michael Bay took to Twitter today to reveal two of the vehicles that’ll be appearing in the film.

That garbage truck is of course the Ninja Turtles’ “Battlewagon”, first seen at the end of the last movie. The name – “Tartaruga Brothers” – is a bad pun of course, since “tartaruga” is “turtle” in Italian. As for the sports car, that’s a Polaris slingshot, a three-wheeled motorcycle already verboten in Texas, where it isn’t street legal as a car and doesn’t meet the state’s definition of a motorcycle.

It’s worth noting that we’re assuming that Polaris is intended for TMNT 2. It could very well be something we’ll see in Bay’s other big franchise, though that still-untitled film, due sometime in 2017, doesn’t go into production for a while longer yet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is scheduled for release June 3, 2016. Megan Fox, William Fichtner, and all four of the actors portraying the turtles are returning. Joining them are Arrow actor Stephen Amell as the comic series’ hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones, and Tyler Perry as evil scientist Bazter Stockman. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are returning to produce and write the script. Dave Green is directing. From Platinum Dunes and Nickelodeon, Paramount is distributing.
