MGM Picks Up Chloe Moretz Pic ‘If I Stay’ (EXCLUSIVE)

After Summit put the film into turnaround earlier this year, “If I Stay” has found a new home as MGM has picked it up with Chloe Moretz in final negotiations to star.

Moretz had been in talks to star but a deal was never set in stone while the film was at Summit. When the film went into turnaround, she fell off but was re approached with a new deal after MGM came on board.

RJ Cutler will remain on as director. The pic will be a co-production between Summit and MGM.

Based on Gayle Forman’s 2009 novel, “If I Stay” is about a girl who has an out-of-body experience following a car accident which puts her in a coma and kills the rest of her family.

Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan of DiNovi Pictures will produce.

The move makes sense for MGM given that the studio has already built a relationship with Moretz with the “Carrie” reboot which comes out later this fall.

Moretz is repped by WME and 3 Arts can be seen next in “Kick-Ass 2.”
