As "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas and "Scrubs" smirk-meister Zach Braff have learned, Kickstarter can be an excellent method of  milking the fanbase for funds, when your project doesn't have the oomph to attract investors via traditional methods.

But on Monday, Melissa Joan Hart discovered that not every Kickstarter campaign ends with a pot of gold.

Former "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" star Hart has canceled her Kickstarter effort to fund her project "Darci's Walk of Shame," after the campaign fell woefully short of its goal.

How short? The campaign drew just over $51,000 dollars, out of a $2 million goal.

Ouch. Sounds like Darci's not the only one doing a walk of shame right now.

The project revolved around Darci Baker, a thirty-something schoolteacher whose trip to Thailand for her sister's wedding goes awry when she discovers her boyfriend -- who was attending the wedding as well --  in bed with their travel agent.

Somehow, Hart failed to work her witchy magic on this one. Welcome to the dark side of crowd-funding, Melissa.
