Media Minute: TheWrap's Lucas Shaw on Awesomeness TV and Maker Studios (Video)

More than 1 billion people across the globe use YouTube every month, but companies uploading their videos are still trying to figure out how to make money from their loyal, growing audiences.

In the past week, developments at two major YouTube networks signaled that the industry is starting to mature. TheWrap's film and media reporter Lucas Shaw explains the implication's of DreamWorks Animation's acquisition of Awesomeness TV and an executive shuffle at Maker Studios.

"A lot of people I've spoken with say companies like Viacom and Time Warner are kicking the tires on acquiring or investing in more companies like Awesomeness," Shaw said.
