'Maron' Renewed by IFC for Expanded Season 2
Marc Maron's IFC series has been renewed for a 13-episode second season, up from ten episodes this year.
The new episodes will premiere in 2014, said Jennifer Caserta, president and general manager of IFC. They will continue to chronicle Maron's portrayal of himself as a standup comedian, podcaster, and one-man cat rescue operation.
"In many ways, Marc is a perfect representation of IFC and our approach to comedy," said Jennifer Caserta, president and general manager of IFC. "He also seems to be in need of a less dysfunctional family, so we're happy he's returning to ours for an expanded second season."
The show's first season found Maron dealing with his scheming father Larry (Judd Hirsch), younger girlfriend Jennifer (Nora Zehetner), and similarly neurotic assistant Kyle (Josh Brener). Guest stars have included Mark Duplass, Illeana Douglas, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin, Gina Gershon, Bobcat Goldthwait, Ken Jeong, Sally Kellerman, Andy Kindler, Denis Leary, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Eric Stoltz and Danny Trejo.
Maron is the show's creator, executive producer, writer and star. Apostle's Denis Leary and Jim Serpico are also executive producers, along with Michael Jamin, Sivert Glarum, Duncan Birmingham and Olivia Wingate. The show is produced for IFC by Fox Television Studios.
