Ludwig Bauer Resigns from German TV Company Tele-Muenchen

COLOGNE, Germany – Veteran German television executive Ludwig Bauer is resigning from Herbert Kloiber's Tele-München Group (TMG) at the end of this year, after eight years at the company.

Bauer has been at TMG for the past eight years and ran ATV, the Austrian commercial network which TMG took full control of in 2007. Under Bauer's management, ATV became Austria's number one commercial channel. In 2011, he launched a second network, ATV2. Before switching to Austria, Bauer was responsible for the successful relaunch of TMG's Munich-based channel Tele 5.

But after several years in Vienna, Bauer said it was time, for “personal reasons,” to return to his home in Munich and to leave TMG. Bauer is married to Rola Bauer, head of Munich-based TV Tandem Communications, producers of NBC's upcoming crime drama Crossing Lines. The couple have two children.

“I am greatly indebted to Ludwig Bauer,” Kloiber said. “ In very turbulent times and with enormous personal commitment he successfully built up and led our Austrian television operations. His profound knowledge and his deliberate and strategic thinking have significantly advanced the position of the ATV stations in the past five years.”

TMG have not yet named Bauer's successor at the company.
