Lionsgate Renews Output Deal for France With Metropolitan

Lionsgate has renewed its output agreement with Metropolitan Film Export for distribution of Lionsgate films in France that commence principal photography starting Jan. 1.

Metropolitan is handling “Sicario” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2,” due out next month. The renewed deal covers Saban’s Power Rangers film; “The Odyssey,” directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Hugh Jackman; and “The Kingkiller Chronicle,” which the studio recently announced.

It’s the second major output deal disclosed by Lionsgate in recent weeks. The studio announced on Sept. 30 that Disney’s Buena Vista International would handle films for Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Lionsgate has also recently announced output deals with StudioCanal in Germany, Nordisk in Scandinavia and Belga in Benelux.

The output arrangement with Metropolitan is managed by Crystal Bourbeau for Lionsgate.
