Lea Seydoux in Talks for Channing Tatum’s ‘X-Men’ Spinoff ‘Gambit’
French actress Lea Seydoux is in early negotiations to star opposite Channing Tatum in Fox’s “Gambit.”
Seydoux broke out in “Blue Is the Warmest Color” and is starring opposite Daniel Craig in the upcoming James Bond film “Spectre.”
Seydoux is in talks to play Bella Donna Boudreaux, who met Gambit when they were children in Marvel’s X-Men universe. Bella became the head of the Assassins Guild.
Rupert Wyatt, who helmed “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” for the studio and Mark Wahlberg’s “The Gambler,” will direct from Josh Zetumer’s script.
Tatum is also producing with partner Reid Carolin, along with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
The Gambit character was created in 1990 by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee. He’s an expert card-thrower with the ability to mentally create, control and manipulate kinetic energy.
“Gambit” will hit theaters on Oct. 7, 2016, and will be Fox’s eighth X-Men movie. “X-Men: Apocalypse” debuts on May 27, 2016.
Seydoux is repped by WME, United Agents and Agence Adequat.
