Kristin Newman Inks Overall Deal With ABC Studios

ABC Studios has closed a two-year overall deal with comedy writer-producer Kristin Newman, executive producer/showrunner of the studio’s ABC comedy pilot Delores and Jermaine, which has been garnering promising early buzz.

Newman has a history at ABC Studios where she has been based for the past three seasons, serving as co-executive producer on Dan Fogelman’s ABC comedy series The Neighbors and Galavant.

Newman had a fast start in TV writing. She landed her first staff job in 2000 on That ’70s Show, rising to supervising producer. Following the end of the Fox sitcom in 2006, Newman got her first overall deal at 20th TV where she joined another long-running young ensemble comedy, How I Met Your Mother, as co-executive producer. Newman, repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson, also worked in the same capacity on the NBC/WBTV dramedy Chuck and created the ABC/ABC Studio comedy Single with Parents. Aside from TV, she penned a “vacationship” memoir, What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding, published last year.
