Korea Box Office: ‘Inside Men’ Stays on Top, ‘Mockingjay’ Sinks
Korean crime drama, “Inside Men” earned $8.2 million from 1.14 million admissions between Friday and Sunday, enough to keep it on top of the box office for the second weekend.
That score represented 55% of the national box office and propelled the film to a total of $24.9 million from 3.59 million admissions.
“The Priests” earned $1.6 million between Friday and Sunday. Despite a fall of 52%, the occult thriller still remained in second place, ahead of soft opening newcomers “You Call it Passion” and “The Sound of a Flower.” After four weekends on release “The Priests” has a total of $33.2 million, a November record.
“Passion,” a new release, opened in third place. It made $2.17 million between Wednesday and Friday. Starring Park Bo-young and Jung Jae-young (“Right Now, Wrong Then”), the office comedy about entertainment journalism did not exceed the opening score of director Jeong Gi-hun’s 2012 picture “Love 911” that made $4.38 million over first five days.
Opening on the same day, CJ Entertainment’s “Flower” took fourth. Starring Ryoo Seung-ryong (“The Piper”) and K-pop singer-actress Suzy, the period musical drama earned $1.42 million over five days.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” slipped to fifth with a fall of 64%, grossing a cumulative $4.43 million after two weekends. “Spectre” dropped to eighth, taking its total to $12.1 million after three weekends.
Two foreign newcomers, Japanese animated feature “The Boy and The Beast” and UPI’s fantasy thriller “Crimson Peak” took sixth and ninth place, earning $702,000 and $225,000 respectively between Wednesday and Sunday.
