STORY: George Jones, 'King of Broken Hearts,' Remembered

Jones died at the age of 81 on April 26 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. "Country music lost a legend today. George Jones is one of the greatest of all time. Rest in peace my friend," wrote Kid Rock on Twitter shortly after the news of Jones passing.

Brad Paisley, in a note posted on Twitter, wrote of the singer: "George Jones' life is an example of so many wonderful things; How someone's God-given gifts can make this a richer, better place. How one human being can overcome adversity, addiction, and life threatening obstacles time and time again. That it is not the stumble or fall that counts, but the willingness to stand again."

A private service for family and friends was set for Wednesday at an unidentified location.
