Kevin James to Star in ‘True Memoirs of an International Assassin’

In a pre-Cannes move, Kevin James has come on board to star in action-comedy “The True Memoirs of an International Assassin” for PalmStar Media and Global Film Group, with production starting in September.

Merced Media and PalmStar will finance. Good Universe will launch international sales at the upcoming Cannes market. WME is handling U.S. rights.

The film will be directed by “Kick Ass 2″ helmer Jeff Wadlow from a Black List script by Jeff Morris.

Todd Garner and Kevin Frakes will produce alongside Raja Collins and Justin Begnaud of Global Film Group and Raj Brinder Singh of Merced Media. Hey Eddie’s Jeff Sussman and PalmStar Media’s Mark Fasano and Buddy Patrick will exec produce.

James will play a mild-mannered accountant and would-be author who is mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. Trying to escape his sudden fame and celebrity, he heads to Belize but is immediately entangled in an assassination plot.

James stars in “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2,” which has topped $75 million worldwide in its third week. He’s also starred in “Here Comes the Boom,” “Zookeeper” and both “Grown-Ups” movies.

James is represented by WME, Jeff Sussman and Schreck, Rose, Dapello and Adams. Wadlow is represented by WME, Allen Fischer and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman. PalmStar and Merced are represented by Cohen Gardner and Loeb & Loeb, respectively.
