Kaya Scodelario Boards Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′

Disney has cast Kaya Scodelario as the female lead in the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

She most recently starred in “The Maze Runner” and the TV series “Skins.”

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced the casting of Scodelario via Twitter.

Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow, with Javier Bardem playing the villain and Brenton Thwaites also set to co-star.

Pre-production on “Pirates” is already under way in Australia, where the big-budget sequel will be shot. The film will bow in July 2017.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, who helmed “Kon Tiki,” will direct.
