Junkie XL Will Compose Deadpool Soundtrack

Grammy-nominated composer Junkie XL will provide the soundtrack to next year’s anticipated R-rated superhero movie ‘Deadpool’.

It’ll be a big year for the musician, who is also working on 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ alongside Hans Zimmer and will more specifically score the new Batman theme on his own.

Junkie XL, real name Tom Holkenborg, revealed he will work on the 20th Century Fox 'X-Men’ spin-off on Twitter, saying: “On Monday I will start on @deadpoolmovie!!!! So excited!!!!”

Holkenborg is one of the most exciting talents currently composing movie soundtracks. Earlier this year his score for 'Mad Max: Fury Road’ was as impressive as the film itself.

He has also worked on numerous other superhero movies, aiding his friend Zimmer by providing additioal music for 'The Dark Knight Rises’ and 'Man of Steel’.

'Deadpool’ should offer Junkie XL plenty of room for fun experimentation. The film looks set to be wildly different to any superhero movie yet released or to be released next - which will help given there is certainly a busy release schedule for 2016.

The character of Deadpool is a favourite among comic book fans for his sense of humour and tendancy to break the fourth wall, which he looks set to do on the big screen as well.

Deadpool will be portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who stars alongside Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, TJ Miller and Gina Carano. The film is being directed by Tim Miller from the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

The film is set for release on 5 February 2016.
