Jonathan Pollard Spy Movie in the Works

Gail Berman’s the Jackal Group is developing a feature film based on the case of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard.

Attorneys for the former U.S. intelligence analyst announced Tuesday that Pollard will be paroled in November after spending nearly three decades in prison for passing top secret information to the Israeli government.

The project is based on Martin Blanks’ stage play “The Law of Return,” which details why Pollard became a spy. Producers are Berman and Rory Koslow with Blank on board to write the script.

Pollard pleaded guilty in 1987 to spying for Israel and was sentenced to life in prison. He is believed to be the only American ever to receive a life sentence for passing classified information to an ally of the U.S.

Variety reported in February that Berman had signed a first-look deal with Fox 2000. She’s developing a movie version of Alice LaPlante’s thriller “Turn of Mind.”

Martin Blank is repped by Gersh.

News was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
