John Cleese, Debra Messing Join ‘Albion: Rise Of The Danann’

John Cleese and Debra Messing have joined the cast of fantasy film Albion: Rise Of The Danann. Cleese will play the villian, a tyrannical leader of Albion while Messing will portray the queen. The film goes before the cameras this month under the direction of Castille Landon who helms from a script that she wrote along with Ryan O’Nan and Sarah Scougal.

Produced by Sweet Tomato Films, Cleese and Messing join Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: War Of Damned, The Flash) and Daniel Sharman (Teen Wolf, The Originals) in the film about a 12-year-old girl (Avery Rath) who is carried away to a faraway land on a magical horse. Others in the cast include Stephen Dorff, who plays the young girl’s father, and Jennifer Morrison, who appears as a psychologically fractured woman in the alternate universe. Also on board is Richard Kind and Johnny Sequoyah.

The producers Dori Sperko, Joseph Restaino, Sarah Scougal and O’Nan are eyeing a summer 2016 release.
