Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling Comedy Mystery Girls Ordered to Series at ABC Family
ABC Family has greenlit Mystery Girls, starring Beverly Hills, 90210 alums Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth.
The project follows a former starlet named Charlie Contour (Garth), a suburban housewife and mom, who is roped into solving crimes with her former mystery TV show co-star Holly Hamilton (Spelling) when a witness to a crime — and a huge fan of their former show — will only speak to the infamous Mystery Girls.
Spelling, Garth and Maggie Malina (Single Ladies) will executive-produce the show, which is based on a story by Spelling and Shepard Boucher (Men at Work). Boucher penned the pilot.
The cabler also ordered to series Young and Hungry, a comedy about Gabi, a young food blogger (played by Hanna Montana‘s Emily Osment) vying for a gig as a personal chef to a wealthy and handsome tech entrepreneur ($#*! My Dad Says‘ Jonathan Sadowski). Kym Whitley (Animal Practice) will co-star, with Annie Potts (Designing Women) appearing as a recurring guest star.
Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men), Jessica Rhoades and Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) will exec-produce the series with CBS Television Studios and Relativity Television. The project also has input from Gabi Moskowitz, the blogger behind BrokeAssGourmet.com.
