Jason Statham’s ‘Homefront’ Gets U.S. Distribution
Open Road Films and Endgame Releasing have acquired U.S. distribution rights to Jason Statham’s “Homefront” and set an Oct. 4 release date.
The action thriller is directed by Gary Fleder from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone, based on the book by Chuck Logan. James Franco, Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth and Frank Grillo also star.
Statham portrays a widowed ex-DEA agent who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter.
Producers are Stallone, Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson. Exec producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, and Mark Gill.
“Homefront” is fourth wide release to land on Oct. 4 following Warner Bros.’ sci-fier “Gravity,” Relativity’s thriller “Out of the Furnace” and Weinstein Co.’s “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.”
Endgame and Open Road previously partnered on spoof “A Haunted House” and its upcoming sequel.
The transaction is part of Endgame’s two-year-old venture dubbed Endgame Releasing to partner with equity investors, third-party producers and studios to provide P&A funding for wide-release films.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road by Tom Ortenberg, Ben Cotner and Elliott Kleinberg and Lerner and Gill on behalf of Millennium Films.
