James McAvoy Finally Going Bald For ‘X-Men Apocalypse’
When James McAvoy took over the role of Professor Xavier from Patrick Stewart for X-Men: First Class, the first thing we noticed was his decided lack of an absence of hair. The leader of the X-Men is of course famously bald, but McAvoy, unlike Stewart, has a thick head of hair. So too then did the young, 1960s version of the character. This continued with Days of Future Past; despite taking place more than a decade later, Professor X’s hair was as thick and lustrous as ever. All of that is changing for X-Men: Apocalypse however, as evidenced by the set photo above, tweeted and instagrammed by director Bryan Singer last night.
Of course, in the comics Professor X doesn’t need Rogaine – his baldness is a side effect of his brain-based mutant powers. Whether that turns out to be the case in Apocalypse, we’ll all find out when the film hits theaters May 27, 2016. From 20th Century Fox, X-Men: Apocalypse is another period piece, this time set in the 1980s with younger (and recast) versions of characters like Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops. It’s written by Simon Kinberg, who produces along with Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Hutch Parker.
