Ian McKellen & Derek Jacobi Return To ‘Vicious’ In Season 2 Teaser

UPDATE with New York Pride March news: A teaser for the second season of Britcom Vicious has landed (above) with the show soon to kick off on the UK’s ITV and due Stateside on PBS in August. Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi play Freddie and Stuart, a loving couple together (and bickering) for more than 50 years. Returning with the veteran thesps is Harry Potter‘s Frances de la Tour. The new six-part series deals with change amongst their close circle of friends.

The news comes the same day McKellen and Derek Jacobi will tapped to serve as one of four co-grand marshals of New York’s annual Pride March, the nation’s largest gay pride parade. They will speak at a rally June 26 ahead of the weekend march.

Vicious was originally renewed by ITV in summer 2013 with PBS making its pick-up official late last year after having aired the first season in July 2014. At its ITV debut, the initial six-part series was the highest-rated comedy launch on any UK channel in 2013. It went on to hold an average of about 3.4M viewers.

Vicious is created by Will & Grace‘s Gary Janetti and made by Brown Eyed Boy in association with Kudos and Nickelby Inc. McKellen is next up in the BBC’s adaptation of The Dresser with Anthony Hopkins while Jacobi is currently on the big screen in Cinderella.
