‘Hunger Games: The Exhibition’ Coming to San Francisco
Lionsgate has selected San Francisco as the second stop for its “The Hunger Games: The Exhibition” following a six-month run at Discovery Times Square in New York City.
The San Francisco exhibition — part of the studio’s attempts to expand the “Hunger Game” brand — will be held at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall beginning Wednesday.
The 12,000-square-foot exhibit includes costumes, props, photography, interactive experiences, set re-creations and a retail store. The exhibit will feature seven galleries, including District 12, Tribute Train, the Capitol, Making the Games, District 13, Fan Gallery and Katniss’ Journey.
“Sales for ‘The Hunger Games: The Exhibition’ have been robust with advance purchases outpacing any other film-based exhibition in the history of our venue,” said James Sanna, president of Discovery Times Square.
Lionsgate is also launching a live theatrical experience, “The Hunger Games StageAround,” next year at a 1,200-seat theatre near Wembley Stadium in England. The Jennifer Lawrence franchise is also one of the attractions at Dubai’s Motiongate theme park, which opens next year.
The final of the four films, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2,” opens worldwide on November 20.
