Hulu Renews Amy Poehler’s ‘Difficult People’ for Season 2
Hulu has ordered a second season of “Difficult People,” the original comedy series from exec producer Amy Poehler.
The half-hour comedy comes from exec producers Amy Poehler (“Parks & Recreation”), Dave Becky (“Louie”), Tony Hernandez of Jax Media and showrunner Scott King, all of whom will return for the second season with creator, star and executive producer Julie Klausner and star Billy Eichner.
“We have been big fans of ‘Difficult People’ from Day One and are so happy to have Julie and Billy be part of the Hulu family,” said Craig Erwich, senior VP and head of content for Hulu. “I cannot wait to see what a whole new season will bring and am pleased to bring more of their hilarious brand of comedy to fans.”
The series is produced by NBCUniversal’s Universal Cable Prods., and was originally in development at NBCU’s USA Network. Hulu’s season 2 order comprises 10 episodes, with the full series available only to subscribers.
In “Difficult People,” Klausner and Eichner (who previously appeared in “Billy on the Street”) are best friends living in New York City, their typical, irreverent behavior lands them in some very awkward situations. Klausner and King wrote all episodes of season one and will continue to serve as executive producers for the series.
The Internet TV service premiered season one Aug. 5 with the first two eps and is releasing subsequent episodes weekly each Wednesday in defiance of the binge-drop strategy.
“Difficult People” season two is from Universal Cable Prods., with Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Prods. in conjunction with Dave Becky’s 3 Arts Entertainment and Jax Media continuing to produce the series.
