Hugh Jackman Is 'a Monster' in 'The Wolverine' (Video)

Hugh Jackman describes his signature superhero persona as "a monster" in the latest look at "The Wolverine."

"You see Wolverine more vulnerable, more at risk, and more of a monster than ever before," Jackman says in a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the 20th Century Fox film hitting theaters on July 25.

The Marval mutant's latest big-screen adventure takes place after the events of "X-Men: The Last Stand" and follows him to Japan, where a powerful businessman -- who Wolverine saved years ago -- offers him mortality. While in a weakened state, Logan must rely purely on his adamantium claws and animal instincts when mixing with a dangerous crowd of armed assassins, ninjas, a snake-like mutant who spits venom and a giant metallic warrior named the Silver Samurai.

The idea seems to be that even without his regenerative powers, Wolverine is a bigger beast than ever.

"What kind of monster are you?" a foe asks Jackman during battle. "The Wolverine," he responds.
