HFPA Elects Lorenzo Soria as President

Italian journalist Lorenzo Soria has been elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for 2015-16.

The Argentinean-born Soria has been a member since 1989 and writes for Italian newspapapers and magazines including La Stampa and L’Espresso. He had previously served as president in 2003-2004. Most recently he served as VP during the 2014-15 year while Dutch journalist Theo Kingma has been president.

He will preside over the HFPA’s 73rd Golden Globe Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 10.

“I’m humbled to be elected by my peers and colleagues here at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and thank them for allowing me to serve as their president,” said Soria. “I will continue to be a dedicated member of this outstanding organization; one that works year-round to build a voice for individuals in the arts and entertainment community through promoting journalism around the world, varied programming, contributions to non-profit organizations, and bringing film and television admirers an extraordinary Golden Globes ceremony in January!”

The HFPA also exected Meher Tatna as vice president, Jorge Camara as treasurer and Serge Rakhlin as executive secretary.
