‘Her,’ ‘Frozen,’ ‘The Croods’ Winners of Made in Hollywood Awards

Los Angeles City Councilmen Tom LaBonge and Mitch O’Farrell have announced that “Her,” “The Croods” and “Frozen” are this year’s recipients of the Council’s annual Made in Hollywood Awards.

The awards are given out to Oscar nominated live-action films that are made in Southern California, but this year the awards show has included animated feature films that are made locally in their entirety or substantially.

“This award tradition has been created to encourage the return and growth of film and television production to its historic home in Southern California,” LaBonge said in a statement. “There is nothing like a motion picture in Hollywood that portrays such talent not only in front of the camera but behind the camera as well.”

“Argo” and “The Artist” were the only two films since the award show’s inception to meet the qualifications, and each went on to win the Oscar for best picture.

The awards will take place on Feb. 13 at the Heart of Hollywood Terrace of the 1600 VINE building.
