Helen Mirren's 'The Audience' to be broadcast

NEW YORK (AP) — Can't get to London to see Helen Mirren play Queen Elizabeth II on stage? No problem — Mirren will come to you.

National Theatre Live said Thursday it will broadcast a live performance of the West End world premiere of Peter Morgan's play "The Audience" on June 13.

The broadcast from the Gielgud Theatre in London to movie theaters will have varying dates internationally and encore screenings throughout the summer. Tickets go on sale March 1.

The play, directed by Stephen Daldry, imagines a series of pivotal meetings between the queen and various prime ministers in their weekly meetings. Mirren reprises the role of Queen Elizabeth II, for which she won the 2006 best actress Academy Award in "The Queen," also scripted by Morgan.
