EXCLUSIVE: Harrison Gilbertson is just 19 but his dance card is rapidly filling up. The Australian actor is attached to star in Boys In The Trees, a drama that marks the feature debut of writer-director Nicholas Verso. Gilbertson will play Corey, a skater who with his former friend and now-nemesis Jonah (Toby Wallace) embarks on a surreal journey through memories, dreams and fears on Halloween Night 1997. Justin Holborow is also attached. John Molloy will produce for Mushroom Pictures, a joint venture between music impresario Michael Gudinski and talent agent Mark Morrissey, who will be EPs. The film is due to shoot in Melbourne in late 2013 or early 2014 after Gilbertson wraps Scott Waugh’s Need For Speed with Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper and Imogen Poots. Currently Gilbertson is filming My Mistress, the saga of an affair between a vulnerable teen and a French S&M mistress (Emmanuelle Béart), directed and co-written by Stephen Lance, that’s shooting on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Gilbertson’s credits include U.S. indie Haunt and Oz films Accidents Happen, Blessed and Beneath Hill 60. He’s repped in Oz by Helen Pandos Management and in the U.S. by APA, manager Laina Cohn and attorney Gregg Gellman. Mushroom Pictures is also developing Violet Town, a drama starring Guy Pearce, Rosamund Pike and Bryan Brown, co-produced with Essential Media and Entertainment’s Ian Collie.
