‘Golan The Insatiable’ Ratings Debut Soft, ‘A.D.’ & ‘American Odyssey’ Rise
There wasn’t a lot that was new last night on the Big 4 and there was no NBA Playoffs or NHL Playoffs to watch as the finals of both don’t start until later this week. With ABC all encores, Fox almost all repeats and the only new thing on CBS was 60 Minutes (0.8/3), which was down 20% from its most recent original of May 17, it was really NBC who were in the game on Sunday night – which is no small part why they won the night among adults 18-49 with a 0.9/3 and saw their two struggling dramas rise. Coming off a 2-hour Dateline (1.0/4), that was even with last week, the ninth week of the Mark Burnett and Roma Downey-produced A.D. The Bible Continues (0.9/3) was up 29% among the demo from its May 24 show, which was a low. Lead-out and fellow as yet unrenewed freshman American Odyssey (0.5/2) was up a tenth from last week’s matched low. Overall, Dateline was the highest-rated show of the slow night with the 7.92 million who tuned into 60 Minutes made it the most watched and CBS the most watched network with an audience of 5.37 million.
It was not a strong debut for Fox’s new animated series, Golan The Insatiable (0.6/2) at 9:30 PM. With nothing but a schedule of encores preceding it, the Josh Miller-created animated series was down 45% among the 18-49s from the Axe Cop/High School USA animated block that the net premiered in the same Sunday time slot back on July 21, 2013. This wasn’t the first time, Golan hit the small screen – 15-minute versions aired on Fox’s Animated Domination High-Def late-night Saturday programming block starting in January last year for several weeks.
