‘Game of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington Joins Cast of ‘Brimstone’

LONDON — “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington has joined the cast of “Brimstone,” which has just started principal photography. The film will shoot on location in Romania, Spain and Germany.

Also joining the cast are Paul Anderson (“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”), Jack Roth (“The Great Train Robbery”) and Carla Juri (“Wetlands”).

The film, which is written and directed by Martin Koolhoven (“Winter in Wartime”), stars Dakota Fanning (“Night Moves,” “The Runaways” and the upcoming “Franny”), Guy Pearce (“Memento,” “Lawless”) and Carice van Houten (“Black Book,” “Valkyrie”). Fanning stars as Liz, a heroine on the run from her past and chased by Pearce’s character, the diabolical Preacher. The movie is described as “a vivid and powerful epic of one woman’s defiant resistance.”

Els Vandevorst (“Winter in Wartime,” “The Surprise,” “Dogville”) of Holland’s N279 Entertainment produces, alongside Uwe Schott (“Cloud Atlas,” “Amour”) of X-Filme. Antonino Lombardo of Belgium’s Prime Time, Peter Hiltunen of Dragon Films in Sweden, and The Jokers’ Manuel Chiche and Violaine Barbaroux from France are co-producers.

The U.K.’s Embankment Films is handling international sales on the movie, and inked a slew of pre-sales prior to Cannes, including Germany (Koch Media) and France (The Jokers Films). London-based New Sparta Films, and Paul Trijbits and Christian Grass’ Filmwave are backing the film.

The film is being shot by cinematographer Rogier Stoffers (“The School of Rock”) and edited by Job ter Burg (“Black Book,” “Borgmann”). Production design is by Floris Vos, who has worked on all of Koolhoven’s films.
