Fox Gives Midnight Saturday Half-Hour Back To Affiliate Stations

Starting Saturday, Sept. 7, the Fox affiliate stations will take control over the Saturday night midnight-12:30 AM time period. The network’s plan for Saturday late-night was to air new original animated block Animation Domination High-Def from 11 PM-midnight, followed by encores of Fox’s primetime animated series. Those additional repeats will now be scrapped, with Animation Domination airing as scheduled. The changeover reverts to the previous Fox Saturday late-night setup. The network programmed the 11 PM-midnight hour until 2006, when it added the mignight-12:30 PM half-hour for the Spike Feresten talk show. Fox held on to the half-hour even after the Feresten show went off the air in 2009, and is now returning it to the affiliates. The extra inventory is expected to help affiliates offset any potential disruptions next fall when Fox is scheduled to air several Saturday football games in primetime that might bleed into local stations’ 11 PM newscasts.
