Fox Drama & Comedy Pilots Start Staffing

As we await more new series orders, I hear two of the hottest Fox pilots have started staffing. That includes drama front-runner Minority Report, based on Steven Spielberg’s 2002 movie, and comedy Grandpa starring John Stamos. Additionally, drama Rosewood has given indications that it will be hiring soon, while comedy standout The Grinder is actively searching for a showrunner in anticipation of a series pickup. Also, word is dramas Studios City and comedy Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life remain in serious contention, and Frankenstein is a possibility.

Minority Report, from 20th Century Fox TV and Paramount TV/Amblin Entertainment, was written by Max Borenstein, who executive produces with showrunner Kevin Falls and Amblin’s Spielberg, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

Grandpa, from ABC Studios, Rhode Island Ave Productions and 20th TV, stars Stamos as a version of himself as he discovers he is a father and a grandfather. It was written by Danny Chun, who executive produces with Dan Fogelman and Stamos.

Fox, 20th TV and ABCS declined comment.

Last week, NBC allowed three drama pilots to start staffing. Two of them, Blindspot and Heartbreaker, went on to become two of the first three newly picked up series for next season, along with the Chicago Fire spinoff Chicago Med.
