Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler’s ‘The House’ Casts Ryan Simpkins

Ryan Simpkins is joining Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler in the New Line comedy “The House,” in which she’ll play their teenage daughter.

Ferrell and Poehler will portray parents who lose the money intended to pay for their daughter’s college tuition and open an underground casino out of desperation. “Neighbors” writer Andrew J. Cohen is directing from a script he co-wrote with Brendan O’Brien.

The project marks Cohen’s feature directorial debut; he previously directed short films and “Funny or Die” sketches.

Good Universe is producing with Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez banner. Jessica Elbaum and Chris Henchy are executive producing.

Simpkins, 17, has been seen in “Pride and Glory,” “Revolutionary Road” and “A Single Man.” She’s repped by WME, Thruline and Ziffren Brittenham.

The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
