Multiple lawsuits have been filed accusing Clash of sexual abuse, with claims that the puppeteer had a sexual relationship with underage boys.

Clash, who voiced Elmo since 1985, released this statement when he left Sesame Street last fall: "I have loved every day of my 28 years working for this exceptional organization. Personal matters have diverted attention away from the important work Sesame Street is doing and I cannot allow it to go on any longer. I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately."

Friday night's awards ceremony was held at Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles.
