‘Entourage’ Fans Out In Full Force Per Fandango

Good news for Johnny Drama. Fandango reports that 50% of its ticket sales today were for Warner Bros.’ Entourage. The feature adaptation of the Emmy-winning HBO series outsold such upcoming big pics like Jurassic World and Inside Out in the most recent 24-hour cycle as well as pics currently in release such as San Andreas. Now, not all of those tickets sales are for today, but are also pre-sales to Entourage shows this week. The Doug Ellin comedy opens tonight at 7PM in previews before hitting 3,108 venues tomorrow. That theater count will swell by Friday. Against the heavy duty competition this weekend — 20th Century Fox’s Spy and Gramercy’s Insidious: Chapter 3, Entourage is expected to come in the lower of the three with a FSS in the high teens to low 20Ms. However, given how this year’s crop of summer pics have been outperforming their tracking, Fandango’s set of data could indicate a brighter set of lights for Entourage by Sunday. Gut instinct by most distrib execs: Spy gonna take the weekend crown with a low-to-mid $30Ms haul.
