Edgar Wright Shoots Down Armie Hammer ‘Ant-Man’ Rumors

With Marvel now looking at “Ant-Man” as one of its next big properties, it seemed only a matter of time before writer-director Edgar Wright would be discussing rumors of who would play the title character.

Wright went to Twitter to let followers know that he had not met with “Lone Ranger” star Armie Hammer after talk spread that the two were meeting on the set of fellow Marvel film, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Neither one is involved with “Captain,” but several bloggers speculated the reason for the visit may have to do with Hammer and Wright meeting for “Ant-Man.”

Wright is currently in London working on post-production on his Working Title “The World’s End,” and while “Ant-Man” is still on his plate, he probably won’t get fully invested in pre-production until he is completely done with “The World’s End.”

Meanwhile, Hammer is set to co-star with Henry Cavill in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” which goes into production this fall and, while he is looking, the actor has always been cautious of attaching himself with too many projects — especially one as large as “Ant-Man.”

“Ant-Man” is set to bow some time in 2015.
