'Dr. Phil' Renewed Through 2017

CBS Television Distribution announced Thursday that Dr. Phil, daytime TV's reigning talk show, has been renewed for three more years. The deal, which carries Dr. Phil through the 2016-17 season, includes distribution in 77 percent of the country.
“To have a talk show on the air for 15 years is a huge accomplishment,” said CBS Television Distribution sales president Joe DiSalvo. “Stations have really sat up and taken notice of the fact that Dr. Phil is the best news lead-in in the marketplace today. Recognizing that value, Dr. Phil has gotten some nice upgrades during the renewal process. We’re thrilled to continue to be in business with Dr. Phil for years to come.”
Dr. Phil debuted in September 2002 after years of Dr. Phil McGraw's well-received segments on The Oprah Winfrey Show. One of several lifestyles experts the late series gave a spinoff, Dr. Phil was created by Winfrey's Harpo Productions and is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution.

Averaging a robust 4.2 million viewers a week in its eleventh season, Dr. Phil has been the number one daytime talk show since The Oprah Winfrey Show ended its historic run at the top in 2011.

The renewal will bring Dr. Phil to its fifteenth season. McGraw and Carla Pennington are executive producers.
