Disney Unveils New Play System Bringing ‘Frozen,’ ‘Star Wars’ to Life

The Walt Disney Company announced a new play system called “Playmation” Tuesday that combines “physical play for a digital generation.”

Videos at Milk Studios revealed children wearing devices such as Iron Man’s armor and the Incredible Hulk’s hands, connected to devices placed around the room.

The “Avengers” universe will kick off the play system in 2015, “Star Wars” in 2016 and “Frozen” in 2017.

The system does not confine users to stand in front of a TV, but allows them to move around the room or even play outside. Disney COO Tom Staggs called the system “play for the 21st century.”

The devices sold with the gear connect to the cloud, as well as an app.

Pre-ordering for the device begins July 7 and the system will be in stores in October.
