‘Despicable Me 3′ Set for June 30, 2017

Universal has dated Illumination Entertainment’s “Despicable Me 3″ for June 30, 2017, the first title to land on that date.

“Despicable Me 2,” voiced by Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig, has grossed $935.8 million worldwide since it opened in July. The sequel just opened in China.

The studio also dated two other Illumination Entertainment titles: A new version of “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas” for Nov. 17, 2017, and an untitled Illumination project for Dec. 21, 2016.

“Seuss” will be directed by Pete Candeland and adapted by Michael LeSieur. The film will be produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy and exec produced by Audrey Geisel.

The untitled film is an animated comedy about courage, competition and carrying a tune. It will be written and directed by Garth Jennings (“Son of Rambow,” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”) and produced by Meledandri and Healy.
