David Linde Going On ‘Furlough’ (EXCLUSIVE)
David Linde’s Lava Bear Films is going on “Furlough” with “Chernobyl Diaries” producer Brian Witten, buying Sherman Payne’s thriller script.
It’s the second thriller project set up this week by Linde, former Universal Pictures chairman. Lava Bear and QED International announced plans Friday to finance and co-produce David Bruckner’s “Intrusion.”

“Furlough” follows an inmate on a two-day furlough from prison to attend his son’s funeral who must use his 48 hours outside the prison walls to avenge the murder of his only child while evading the marshals sent to guard him.
Tory Metzger of Lava Bear will oversee the production.
Two-year-old Lava Bear produced futuristic thriller “The Rover,” starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce, set in a dystopian version of Australia directed by “Animal Kingdom” helmer David Michod.
Witten is prepping an adaptation of Stephen King’s “Cell” with John Cusack starring.
Payne is represented by APA and Caliber Media.
