Daniel Craig Told To 'Shut Up And Stop Bond Bashing'

Daniel Craig has been told by executives at Sony to ‘shut up’ and stop slating the Bond franchise, according to reports.

The New York Post’s Page Six claims that recent comments from the current 007, in which he said he’d rather 'slash his wrists’ than do another Bond movie, have not gone down all that well.

A source told the US paper: “They had problems initially with the script, Craig was injured on the set and needed knee surgery, and they were still doing reshoots last month, even though the movie is out in weeks.

“It was a very difficult shoot, to say the least.”

Another 'insider’ close to the production added: “Craig is pretentious and thinks he’s better than Bond, that it doesn’t give him the creative range he needs.

“Plus he hasn’t had a big hit movie outside of the franchise, and he blames that on Bond.”

Craig made the rather blunt comments in a now viral interview with Time Out, but that said, they were made just four days after the movie’s 'epic’ eight-month shoot.

Asked if he could imagine doing another Bond movie at that moment, he replied: “Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

This might be excused, had he not been less than complimentary elsewhere.

In an interview with Esquire last month, he slammed his character as being 'lonely, sexist and misogynist’ - though perhaps not as much as previous incarnations - adding that he’d not be interested in spending time with Bond on a personal level.

He’s reiterated this in an interview with Jonathan Ross too.

Set to be broadcast on ITV on October 17, he was asked whether he’d be interested in hanging out with Bond, or is he too 'emotionally closed off’.

“That wouldn’t be the reason I would avoid him. That would be low down the list of reasons 'no, he’s so emotionally closed’,” he said.

“The fact that he kills people three times a week… I’ve been fortunate I suppose to meet quite a few guys from MI6 and they always impress me, they’re very together people, way more together than I could ever hope to be.

“I don’t know, it’s one of those things – he’s fun at a party but don’t stay too late.”

'SPECTRE’ is due out on October 26.
